So Long

Strokes out silent soft
Summer came violent and cold
And across the growing canyon
She feeds a tortoise of isolation

"Why do you walk with me so slow?"
Said, "Fatigue? or are you in a trance?"
And I spoke
"I just want this moment to last"

See the crossroad waits ahead
An end for this heavenly ride
And yeah, I think about the things we said
When we lay side by side

Soon you'll return to a word of a distant past
And we'll be separated by the blades of growing grass
What's the meaning of this feeling?
Now that the moments are fleeting

Your coral reverie, your underwater ecstasy
Your aquatic charm, your mystical sea
I swam through, looking for you
And drifted back to the shore, beaten down and blue

Safety on the land, the heart is bland
Craving your hand, but it's time to disband
And yeah, I think about the dreams I've had
For so long
So long
